Manuela Formichella, bright soprano, graduated in singing at the Conservatory "A. Casella" in L'Aquila and in July 2006 in vocal chamber music at the Conservatory "Santa Cecilia" in Rome.
She is specialized in the woman “buffo” repertoire.
She has attended numerous master classes with Claudio Desideri, William Matteuzzi, Regina Resnik, Raina Kabaiwanska, Victor Lederer (German Lied), Nigel Rogers (Repertoire Baroque Renaissance). In 1998 and 1999 she participated in the "Course of specialization for professional singers of the Opera" at the Theatre of Pisa.
Finalist in the International Competition "Opera d'Abruzzo" and "F.P. Tosti" of Ortona, winner of the competition "Cascinalirica '92" for which she recorded a CD dedicated to the musical repertoire of the “smile”. She was the winner for the role of Despina in the Competition "S . and G. Giacomantonio " in 1998 and Theater Rendano of Cosenza, debuted in "Cosi fan tutte" by Mozart under the musical direction of P.Maag and the scenic direction of M.Scaparro.
She also performed in concerts with a special attention for the chamber music repertoire in several Italian cities, for example Teatro Comunale of Treviso (Asolo.Musica Festival), Palazzo Barberini in Rome, Palazzo Fronzi in Pesaro, Teatro delle Erbe in Milan.
As for the sacred repertoire she sang the Jephte Carissimi, the Masses of Mozart KV192 and KV194 (Pantheon Rome), Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Bach's Magnificat (Rovereto), the Laudate Pueri of Vivaldi, the Exsultate Jubilate Mozart (Basilica San Giovanni Rotondo).
For the opera activities she has taken part in the realization of " Le nozze di Teti e di Peleo " by Rossini with the Scarlatti Orchestra of Naples, musical director A.Zedda.
She was Berta in "Il barbiere di Siviglia" of Rossini at the Theatre "G. Verdi" of Pisa, the Musical July Trapani, the Bellini theatre in Catania, in the Opera Season of Teramo.
She has been Lesbina in "Il filosofo di campagna" B.Galuppi of the Festival Galuppi in Venice 1999, a maid in "Simon Boccanegra" by G. Verdi Theatre in Pisa, Como, Lucca, Rovigo, Trento and Ravenna, Scintilla in "La contadina astuta" of G.B. Pergolesi at Theatre Palacio Valdes de Aviles in Spain.
She played the role of Elisetta in "Il matrimonio" by D.Cimarosa at Aversa, in Alicante (Spain) and Teramo.
She made her debut role in the premiere of the fairy tale opera "A caval donato" of R.Scarcella Perino in the Teatro Verdi in Pisa; recorded on CD.
In his repertoire there are contemporary musical productions such as "Di Feltre si muore" by A.Taggeo, "Baroque 3 Songs", "La voce della fontana" R.Moran in 1998, the “Concert Spiritual” of G.F. Ghedini with “Officina Musicale Italiana”.
In May 2000 she won the International Competition "G.Di Stefano" in Trapani, in October of that year he starred Marzelline in the "Fidelio" of Beethoven in the theaters of Pisa, Livorno, Rovigo and Como (Musical director Bellugi, scenic director Pacini).
In December 2000 she sang in "La serva padrona" of G.B. Pergolesi in Trapani and in the summer of 2001 and she was Valencienne in “La vedova allegra” with the Toscanini Foundation, with the musical direction of De Bernart.
In 2002, she was committed with the “Il matromonio segreto” and ”L'Elisir d'amore” in Teramo, in Trapani in “Il barbiere di Siviglia”, then played the role of Giannetta in “L'Elisir d'Amore” at the Opera in Rome.
In 2005 she recorded a CD of arias and duets of the composer Antonio di Jorio.
She collaborates regularly with the “Orchestra da Camera Benedetto Marcello" with which she holds several concerts, especially devoted to Vivaldi.
She was invited by University of Music in Tallinn (Estonia) to teach a course on the Italian "Opera buffa".
She has held masterclasses and concerts of F. P. Tosti in Knoxville, Tennessee (USA).
She is a jury member in national and international competitions of singing.
She is graduated with honors in Education from the University of L'Aquila and currently is a singing teacher at the Conservatory "L. D'Annunzio" of Pescara.
